Master experimental guitarist (and son of founding Minimalist Terry) Gjan Riley is doing a residency at The Stone this week.  This show is the pick of the bunch.  Riley collaborates here with an artist who shares both his broad range and his evident desire to engage his audience:  the Czech avant-garde violinist/vocalist Iva Bittová, a riveting live performer whose music fetchingly combines elements of prog/alternative rock, East European folk, and new classical.  And speaking of people who have fathers, playing with Riley and Bittová will be pianist/electronics guy Tony Fajt, son of the leading Czech prog musician Pavel Fajt, whose early collaborations with Bittová pretty much put her on the map.

MAKE A NIGHT OF IT:  Babu Ji, in its original iteration, started the trendlet of hip new Indian places -- and carries on in its (relatively) new digs.
